This week in Falcon Class...

·         In Literacy we read the story ‘Whatever next’, about a bear who built a rocket and went into space. We sequenced the main events in the book and then labelled the different objects in the story such as boots, food and a cardboard box.

·         In Maths we have been working on our subtraction skills. We started by finding ‘one less’ than a number up to ten, before subtracting larger numbers and recording our work in a number sentence e.g. 3-1=2.

·         In our Topic work we made a space rocket using cardboard boxes, masking tape and paint. In ICT we had a go at taking pictures using the Ipad, using different features to make ourselves look silly! We have also been beginning to practise our songs for the Christmas nativity and are currently very enthusiastic about it!

This week in Falcon Class...

·        In Literacy we read the story of ‘The little red hen.’ We took turns acting out the story using role play masks and then performed our ‘show’ to the rest of the class. We talked about how the hen was feeling in the story and whether it was fair for the other animals not to help him. We then wrote a list of words to describe each character.

·        In Maths we have been working on adding two groups of objects together. We began by adding ‘one more’ before adding two larger numbers. We also had a go at writing a simple number sentence e.g. 3+1=4

·        In our Topic work we painted some lovely pictures of different farm animals, linked to the story we were reading this week. We also went for a walk around the school, looking for different objects that we could push or pull e.g. doors, drawers, chairs etc. In PE we practised travelling around the hall in different ways such as jogging, jumping, skipping, hopping and marching whilst in music we thought about the different sounds we could hear in the environment.

Farm animals

This week we painted some pictures of different farm animals as part of our learning about 'The little red hen.' Have a look at our super work!

Gingerbread Men

On Tuesday we had a great time decorating some gingerbread men. They tasted great and looked brilliant!
