This week in Falcon class….

·         In Literacy this week we have been writing an information page about Rand Farm. We used our trip to think about what we know about Rand Farm and then wrote some facts about it.
·         In Maths this week we have been solving number problems involving money. We used 1p coins to add and subtract different amounts and work out how much change we would have.

·         In our Topic work this week we have been practising our sketching skills, drawing a picture of the school grounds. In science we took part in an experiment to find out how to make butter, testing three jars of cream in different ways. On Monday we completed our farm animal masks and on Friday we dressed in animal-themed clothes to raise money for the RSPCA.

This week in Falcon class….

·         In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We talked about the different characters and the main events in the story and then acted out the story in groups. We also worked hard to write a letter to the characters in the story.
·         In Maths this week we have been comparing the weight and capacity of different classroom objects and containers. We also had a go at measuring the weight of different objects using cubes.

·         In our Topic work this week we have begun making some farm animal masks for the class display. We also talked about different types of animals and where they live and how animals have adapted to their environments. We have also been very excited about the birth of our new chicks and we were all lucky enough to have a little cuddle!

This week in Falcon class….

·         In Literacy this week we have been writing an information page about farm animals. We looked at information books and picked out some of the key features such as a contents page, index, pictures and labels. We then wrote some facts about one of the animals that we saw at Rand Farm.
·         In Maths this week we have been measuring the length and height of different objects. We compared the sizes of different objects and then had a go at measuring them using cubes.
·         In our Topic work this week we continued to work on our clay farm animals, painting them the correct colour and adding more detail to our work. In PE we went outside to work on our throwing and catching skills and in music we had a go at making different musical patterns using instruments. We also painted some pictures of different farm animals and displayed them in the classroom.
