This week in Falcon class….

·        In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘Handa’s Surprise.’ We had a go at acting out the story, and then wrote a list of the different fruits that Handa took to her friend. We also talked about where the story took place, and how it was different from England.
·        In Numeracy this week we have been working on our subtraction skills. We talked about how to find ‘one less’ using different objects, and then moved on to taking away small groups of objects from each other.
·        In our Topic work this week we have been learning about Africa, in particular the different animals that live there. We also began some artwork based on African animals that we will put on our class display.

On Friday we celebrated ‘National Breakfast Week’ and tried a variety of different toast toppings, including jam, cheese and chocolate spread. We also shared our breakfast diaries that we have been filling in this week, and talked about the importance of eating breakfast everyday.

This week in Falcon Class...

·        In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ We acted out the story in groups, and then performed it to the rest of the class. We then had a go at writing some words to describe the different characters.
·        In Numeracy this week we have been working on our adding skills, using different objects to add two groups of objects together. We have also talked about how to use our fingers to add ‘one more’, or add ‘one more’ in our heads.
·        In our Topic work this week we have been busy painting the characters from ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ for our display. We have also been busy taking photographs of different parts of the school for a book about the school.

It's snowing!

We have had a great time today enjoying the snow in our outdoor area. Have a look at what we have been doing!

This week in Falcon Class...

·     In Literacy this week we have been talking about our Christmas holidays. We took it in turns to share what we got for Christmas, and drew a picture of our three favourite presents. We then had a go at writing a label to match each picture.
·    In Numeracy this week we have been recapping our work on numbers 1-10 and beyond! We had a go at recognising and ordering the numbers, before practising the number formations in shaving foam.
·        In our Topic work this week we have been thinking about what is special to us, and we painted a picture of our most special possession. We also took part in a science experiment, trying to find out how to stop ice cubes from melting. We thought of lots of different ideas and tested them out. We put some in the fridge, some in the freezer, we left some outside and we left some in the classroom. When we came back the next day we compared the results and found out that the fridge must be the coldest place, although outside came a close second!

Holding our own 'celebration assembly'

Painting a picture of our 'special things'
