The summer holidays begin!

A big thank you to everyone who came into school on Tuesday for the picnic. The children loved it, even though the weather wasn't the best! Mrs Dewey and I would like to wish everyone a lovely summer holiday, and we will see you in September! :)

This week in Falcon Class...

·    This week we have been enjoying our last full week in Reception! We spent lots of time outside and on Tuesday we took part in a whole-school relay, and everyone had a go at running 100m across the school field. We also took the parachute outside and played lots of fun games! We also spent some more time with pre-school and on Friday we enjoyed the final Silver Party of the year.

This week in Falcon Class...

·        In Literacy this week we have been busy writing an information page about the seaside. Some of us chose to write about what you might find at the seaside, and others chose to write about what we like to do at the beach. We have also been busy thinking about our targets for next year, and writing down what we would like to achieve in Year One.
·        In Maths this week we have been working on our number formation as some of us find writing our numbers a little tricky. We tried to make sure we didn’t get any of them back to front!
·        In our Topic work this week we carried out a science investigation to try to find out which was the best material for a waterproof coat. We made and tested the coats, and then talked about why some materials were better than others. We were also very excited this week as we were visited by pre-school!

This week in Falcon Class...

·       In Literacy this week we have been thinking a lot about our school trip to Hunstanton. We talked about what we liked most about the trip, and wrote a short recount of what happened. We then visited the post office to send a little surprise home!
·        In Maths this week we have been thinking about position and direction. We had a go at making an obstacle course outside, and using positional language to explain what we needed to do e.g. walk behind the tree, jump over the mat etc. We also used the Bee-bots, programming routes and making them travel around the room.
·        In our Topic work this week we painted a picture of our favourite part of the trip. We also tried to mix colours together to make the colours that we needed. We have also been working on our typing skills, and visited the ICT suite to type up our information page about the sea.

A trip to the post office

Today we worked very hard on a piece of writing about our trip to the sea-life centre. We then took a walk to the post office to buy some stamps. Mums and Dads should be receiving something in the post very soon....
