This week in Falcon class….

In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘Farmer Duck’, about a lazy farmer and a hard-working duck. We have been re-enacting the story through role play, and have had a go at sequencing and describing the different events.

In Numeracy this week we have been using the terms ‘more’ and ‘less’ to compare different amounts of objects. We have also been practising our counting skills.

In our Topic work this week we have been working hard to improve the outdoor area. We decorated our own individual plant pot and planted some bulbs, ready for the spring. We also talked about what we liked and disliked about the outdoor area, and talked about what we would like to do to make it even better!

Mrs Dewey and I wish everyone a lovely half-term. See you in a week!

This week in Falcon class….

·    In Literacy this week we have been taking part in lots of different activities to help us recognise the different letters we have learned over the last few weeks e.g. going on a letter hunt, using the magnetic letters, painting with foam letters, writing letters in shaving foam etc.
·   In Numeracy this week we have been working hard at recognising numbers 1-10 and beyond! We have been fishing for numbers, looking for numbers in the outdoor area, as well as painting numbers.
·    In our Topic work this week we have been thinking about friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We read the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’ and talked about what we would do if we saw someone in trouble. We also made medals to reward each other for being a good friend!

A big thank you to everyone who came to our ‘Share Afternoon’ – the children loved showing you what they have been up to!

This week in Falcon Class...

In Literacy this week we have been learning how to write lists. We talked about what we might use lists for, and how we should set them out. We then had a go at writing the first and final sounds in words.
In Numeracy this week we have been learning about patterns. We have used different objects, such as cubes, post-it notes, mini-transport etc, to make lots of different coloured patterns.
In our Topic work this week we have been busy working on our art skills. We have painted a picture of our favourite living thing for our new display, and have made paper plate portraits of our friends! We have also been thinking about animals, and had a go at naming and matching different animals.

This week in Falcon class….

In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘Funnybones’. We have been taking turns drawing around ourselves and having a go at labelling the different body parts. We have also been sequencing the events in the story using images. We also watched a short film version of ‘Funnybones’ and compared it to the book to see if there were any differences.
In Numeracy this week we have been learning about sorting. We dug up some objects that had been hidden in the sand and the digging area, and sorted them by colour and type. We have also been busy making our own number lines to help us with our counting.
In our Topic work this week we have been experimenting with play dough, using the different tools and equipment to make different objects. We have also been busy practising our Harvest Festival song, which everyone performed brilliantly - Mrs Dewey and I were very proud. Well done on your first school performance!

Our eggs have hatched!

We have been keeping a very close eye on our nests this week, waiting for something exciting to happen... and it did! On Thursday we discovered that our eggs had hatched, and we decided that they had probably gone with their Mummy to learn how to fly!

Special writing books

This week we made some special writing books. We chose which front cover we would like, and we were very excited to start using them in our free choice time.

Buried treasure

This week we found some buried treasure in the digging area. We thought about how we could sort it into groups, and decided that sorting it by colour and shape were the best ideas!
